What do odds tell you?
Odds tell you two things: how likely a platform thinks an outcome is, and how much you’ll get back if your bet wins.
Most cricket betting apps in India use decimal odds. They’re the easiest to read: multiply your stake by the odds to get your total return.
Odds below 2.00 usually mean a favourite; odds above 2.00 mean an underdog.
Profit = Payout − Stake
₹1,000 × 1.80 = ₹1,800 payout
₹1,800 − ₹1,000 = ₹800 profit
Quick payout table
| Stake | Odds | Payout | Profit |
|---|---|---|---|
| ₹500 | 1.50 | ₹750 | ₹250 |
| ₹1,000 | 1.80 | ₹1,800 | ₹800 |
| ₹1,000 | 2.40 | ₹2,400 | ₹1,400 |
| ₹2,000 | 3.00 | ₹6,000 | ₹4,000 |
| ₹500 | 8.00 | ₹4,000 | ₹3,500 |
Odds to implied probability
Implied probability = 1 ÷ decimal odds × 100. It shows how likely the odds say an outcome is.
| Decimal odds | Fractional | American | Implied probability |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1.25 | 1/4 | −400 | 80% |
| 1.50 | 1/2 | −200 | 66.7% |
| 2.00 | 1/1 (evens) | +100 | 50% |
| 2.50 | 3/2 | +150 | 40% |
| 4.00 | 3/1 | +300 | 25% |
| 6.00 | 5/1 | +500 | 16.7% |
Back & lay odds
On a betting exchange you bet against other users instead of the bookmaker.
Back = you bet that something will happen (e.g. India to win).
Lay = you bet that it won’t happen — you take on the other person’s bet.
When you lay at 2.00 for ₹1,000, you win ₹1,000 if the outcome doesn’t happen, but you pay ₹1,000 (your liability) if it does.
Back India @ 1.62
Stake ₹1,000 → win ₹620 profit if India win.
Lay India @ 1.64
Win ₹1,000 if India don't win; liability ₹640 if they do.

Cricket odds: FAQs
What do odds of 1.80 mean?
With decimal odds of 1.80, every ₹1 you stake returns ₹1.80 if you win — your stake plus ₹0.80 profit. A ₹1,000 bet returns ₹1,800.
How do I convert odds to probability?
Divide 1 by the decimal odds and multiply by 100. Odds of 2.00 imply a 50% chance; odds of 1.50 imply about 66.7%.
Why do odds change during a match?
Odds move with wickets, run rate, required rate, weather and the amount of money being bet on each side.
What is the difference between back and lay odds?
On an exchange, backing means betting that something will happen; laying means betting it won’t — you act like the bookmaker for another user.
Are lower odds safer?
Lower odds mean the outcome is considered more likely, but nothing is guaranteed. The payout is also smaller.
